Earlier this month, The Queensland Government announced Round 1 for the Grassroots Environmental Grants Program. Applications for this funding are open to eligible participants until 4pm Wednesday, October 8th 2025.
These grants are designed to help eligible recipients to strengthen their ability to care for Queensland’s natural environment. Funding will support projects that protect natural assets, improve sustainability, and safeguard biodiversity and ecosystems for the future.
The Grassroots Environmental Grants for Round 1: Environmental Conservation will provide up to $800,000 (excluding GST). This grant funding will be split into two categories;
- Category 1 – Grants of up to $15,000 to purchase general equipment and/or facility upgrades to support an organisations capacity to undertake environmental conservation activities.
- Category 2 – Grants of up to $30,000 to deliver on-ground projects to safeguard Queensland’s natural environment through activities which rehabilitate, protect and improve biodiversity and habitat.

Who Can Apply for Grassroots Environmental Grants QLD?
The grant is open to a range of not-for-profit and community organisations, including:
Incorporated associations under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981
Australian charities registered with the ACNC
Not-for-profit organisations registered under the Corporations Act 2001 or Co-operatives National Law Act (with a not-for-profit constitution)
Indigenous corporations under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006
Natural Resource Management (NRM) bodies
