The Victorian Mallee district covers the most northwesterly district in the state and is bounded by the South Australian and New South Wales borders with the Murray River being the major northern border.
The major industries in the region include cereal cropping of wheat and barley which are grown on the sandy Mallee soils and fruit production with oranges and grape production grown along the Murray River.
The climate of the Mallee region is semi-arid to arid and it is the hottest and driest region in Victoria due to its inland location. Rainfall is low and highly variable and it‘s reliant on strong frontal systems coming through the region. The average annual rainfall ranges from 260 mm up to 370 mm. This level of rainfall, coupled with the sandy soils and salt ground water means the only fresh water available is from the Murray River or water caught by rainwater harvesting and stored in water tanks.
The major centres in the region are Mildura City and Swan Hill City, with smaller towns which include Hopetown, Robynvale, Ouyen, Birchip, Wycheproof, Donald and Kerang. These cities and towns have Bushmans retailers who will provide expert service and advice when it comes to the selection of your new water tank.
Bushmans offer free delivery to the Mallee region from our Victorian manufacturing and distribution centre.
