Council Regulations & Installation in QLD
Installing rainwater tanks in Brisbane or Queensland may not require council approval for tanks under 10,000L, but you must follow local regulations. These include:
- Ensuring a safe, level base not positioned over mains services
- Using mosquito-proof inlets and first-flush diverters
- Checking for backflow prevention if the tank is connected to toilets or laundry
For new homes, you may need to comply with Queensland Development Code MP 4.2. Always check with your local council before installation.
