100mm Rain Harvesting First Flush Diverter

The 100mm first flush water diverter aims to enhance water quality and reduce tank maintenance by stopping dirty water entering the tank. The first flush of water from the roof often has contaminants such as dirt and dust and this diverted prevents these from entering the tank. This provides cleaner water which helps protect the water pump and internal household appliances such as clothes washing machines, toilets, hot water systems, etc.

First Flush Diverters are installed on each downpipe that supplies water to the tank. They use a simple ball and seat system. The system does not rely on mechanical parts or manual intervention. The system works as the water level rises in the diverter chamber, the ball floats, and once the chamber is full, the ball rests on a seat inside the diverter chamber preventing any further water entering the diverter. All further water is then simply directed to the pipes going to the water tank.

The system also prevents sediment such as, bird droppings, spiders, insects, mosquito eggs and debris from entering the water tank.
