Darling Downs is a farming region on the western slopes of the Great Dividing Range in southern Queensland and has a humid sub-tropical climate moving to semi-arid in the west or the region.

The Darling Downs is a renowned food bowl with a wide range of crops and pastures including vegetables, legumes, cotton, wheat, barley and sorghum. The area also has an extensive beef cattle industry.

The Darling downs is the home of Bushmans; the business was established in Dalby in 1989 and is still operating from the expanded original manufacturing site.

The annual rainfall varies from 600 mm per annum in the west up to 1000 mm per annum in the east. Temperatures in summer are hot however there can be extremely cold periods in the winter months when the temperature can drop to -5 degrees C.
