Rainharvesting 90mm 1st Flush Diverter
The 90mm first flush water diverter improves the water going into your tank by preventing dirty water from entering the tank. The first flush of water from a roof of a rain harvesting system has pollutants such as dirt and dust and this diverted waters is prevented from entering the tank providing cleaner water which protects the water pump and internal household appliances such as clothes washing machines, toilets, hot water systems, etc.
These diverters should be installed on each downpipe that supplies water to the tank. The mechanics if the system is a ball and seat setup. There are no mechanical parts or manual intervention by the householder. The diverter works by a mechanism linked to the rising water level which has the first water diverted into a chamber. The ball floats to the top and when the chamber is full, the ball sits on a seat inside the diverter preventing any further water entering the diverter. From this point water goes straight to the tank.
The diverter stops sediment such as, bird droppings, spiders, insects, mosquito eggs and debris from entering the water tank.
